Wellbeing

At Holy Name Primary School we celebrate the uniqueness and dignity of each person and work to build inclusive, respectful, collaborative relationships where every student is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. We hold the care, safety and wellbeing of all children as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school and the ongoing safety and wellbeing of all children at Holy Name Primary School will be the primary focus of care and decision-making. As a school we consciously construct inclusive educational experiences and opportunities, which enable every student to experience success and growth.

Learning Diversity
At Holy Name Primary School we recognise and embrace the diversity of our school community, including but not limited to, students with disability, students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, international students, students unable to live at home, and students who identify as gender diverse. We understand that each student brings unique experiences and needs, and we are dedicated to ensuring equity and access for all.
Respectful Relationships

Respectful Relationships is a whole-school approach that promotes positive attitudes, behaviours, and equality to help students build healthy and respectful relationships. Through classroom learning and school-wide initiatives, students develop skills in empathy, communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation. The program supports a safe, inclusive, and supportive school culture where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Respectful Relationships is about helping everyone in our school community learn how to build positive, safe, and healthy relationships.

This program supports our commitment to creating a school where everyone feels valued, included, and respected — so we can all learn and grow together.

Power to Kids in Schools
We’re proud to share that Holy Name Primary School is part of the Power to Kids in Schools program, delivered by The MacKillop Institute! A whole-school approach to strengthen prevention and responses to child sexual abuse.
Power to Kids in Schools is a professional learning program designed to empower educators, schools, and early learning centres to prevent and respond effectively to child sexual exploitation, harmful sexual behaviours, and dating violence.
The program equips educators with the knowledge and practical skills to have brave conversations about sexual health
and safety with students. It is built around three evidence-based strategies:
-
A whole-school education approach
-
Early identification and intervention
-
Connecting with appropriate services to disrupt harm
Through Power to Kids in Schools, educators gain the confidence and tools to create safer learning environments and support the wellbeing of all students.

Together, we’re building a safe, supportive environment where every student can thrive!
Learning Support Officers (LSOs)

Learning Support Officers (LSOs) play a vital role in helping all students reach their full potential. They work alongside teachers to provide extra support for students who may need help with their learning, wellbeing, or engagement. LSOs assist in classrooms, small groups, or one-on-one settings to make sure every student feels included, supported, and confident in their learning journey.
Allied Health Support
At Holy Name Primary School we are pleased to be able to offer Speech Pathology via Dee Wardrop Speech Pathology and student counselling via Acua Counselling which is aligned with NDIS.

Buddy Program

Our Prep children are paired with a Year 5 buddy, giving them two years of guidance from older students. This program typically begins at the end of Term 1, allowing Prep children time to build relationships with peers before meeting their buddies. Throughout the year, buddies participate in a variety of activities together.

Lunch Time Clubs and Passive Play
At Holy Name Primary School, we recognize the importance of balancing active and quiet forms of play to support every child’s wellbeing and development. Our passive play area provides students who need a break, a space for all levels where they can regulate their emotions, explore their imagination, and connect with others in a relaxed environment. They can engage in activities that include drawing, connect 4, lego or chess.
There are a number of lunch time clubs that take place throughout the year. Sometimes these clubs are established because children are showing a keen interest, or a need may arise while others run the whole year through.
House Colour Activities

At Holy Name Primary School we pride ourselves on positive relationships. House Group Activities help build school spirit, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Students work together in their house colours to take part in a range of activities.
These activities vary from sports and arts to community and leadership events. These experiences encourage friendship, cooperation, and pride in being part of the school community.
Student Leadership

Our Year 6 Student Leaders play an important role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful school community. They are chosen for their leadership qualities, responsibility, and commitment to being positive role models for younger students. The roles include things such as helping with assemblies, organizing events, supporting playground activities, and promoting school values.

Through these roles our students develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills. The Student Leadership program empowers our Year 6 students to take pride in their school, contribute to decision-making, and prepare for future leadership opportunities in and beyond the classroom.
